A Socio-Political Group, Imole Accord Vanguard (IMAV), has alleged a plot to illegally organize another Governorship Primary of the Accord Party in Osun State.
It warned that the move could threaten democratic order if not checked.
In a statement dated December 13, 2025, and signed by its State Coordinator, Hezekiah Oladele Bamiji, the Group accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state of sponsoring what it described as a “phantom” primary to cause confusion and undermine the outcome of the Accord governorship primaries held on December 10, 2025.
IMAV claimed that intelligence at its disposal indicated plans to secure a court injunction to give “a veneer of legality” to the alleged exercise
It explained that such action would amount to an abuse of judicial process and an affront to the rule of law.
The Group argued that any attempt to conduct another primary would be illegal, noting that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had already supervised the Accord primaries and discharged its constitutional responsibilities.
It called on the judiciary to remain vigilant and avoid being drawn into what it termed partisan desperation, warning against actions capable of eroding Nigeria’s electoral jurisprudence.
IMAV also urged the Inspector-General of Police and other security agencies to ensure they are not deployed to enforce any unlawful political arrangement, stressing that security agencies had already performed their statutory roles during the earlier primaries.
According to the Group, the alleged plot was driven by what it described as the growing political strength and acceptance of Governor Ademola Adeleke, adding that efforts to prevent him from contesting elections would amount to a denial of his constitutional rights.
The Group appealed to residents of Osun State to remain calm, vigilant and law-abiding, insisting that the will of the people, as expressed in previous elections, must be respected.
IMAV warned that Osun State should not be turned into “a laboratory for democratic subversion and urged all parties involved in the alleged scheme to desist in the interest of peace and stability in the state.
