Good neighbourliness has been described as an integral part of Muslim Faith.
Lecturer in the Dept of Arabic, Kwara State College of Arabic and Islamic Legal Studies CAILS, Dr Muslihudeen Koro made the assertion while delivering a lecture on the topic “Neighborliness In Islam at Darul-Hidayyah Ramadan Lectures Oloje, Ilorin.
The Islamic Scholar noted that neighbourhood covers forty houses radius and stated that goodness to neighbours is a mandatory duty on every Muslim irrespective of religious beliefs.
Dr Koro pointed out that Neighbourhood welfare and well-being should be a collective responsibility while security and protection from all evils in the neighbourhood is of importance to safeguard individuals and family members.
He maintained that mutual relationship, respect, assistance and tolerance to members of the neighbourhood crucial for peaceful coexistence.
He commanded those engaging in community services including development and security watch against evil practices.
In his contribution, Founder and Director, Darul-Hidayyah Centre, Engr Abdulyassar Remilekun observed that following Islamic prescription for good neighbourliness would encourage societal cohesion, solidarity and security of larger society and the nation at large.
Meanwhile, the lecture continues today with the topic ” Consequences Of Salat At Appointed Time” to be delivered by Uztaz Salman Ghali at Oloje beginning at 4:30pm.
