The 8th Kwara State Sports Festival will officially feature 25 sporting events, with a total of 771 entries received for the competition.
The Chairman of the Technical Committee, Coach Tunde Kazeem, disclosed this while briefing the Local Organising Committee (LOC) on Friday ahead of the commencement of the festival.
Kazeem said the 771 entries comprised 602 male and 169 female athletes.
He added that a total of 907 athletes and officials are expected to converge at the George Innih Stadium Complex, venue of the festival.
According to him, the figure comprises 771 athletes and 136 officials, made up of 115 males and 21 females.
The Technical Committee Chairman stressed the importance of accreditation, describing it as the licence that qualifies athletes to participate in the various sporting events.
Meanwhile, the hoisting of the flags of all participating teams is scheduled to hold today, Friday, at 4:00 p.m., marking the formal commencement of activities for the festival.
The opening ceremony of the 8th Kwara State Sports Festival will follow on Saturday, August 22, beginning at 3:00 p.m.
The festival is expected to bring together athletes from the 16 Local Government Areas of Kwara State to compete across the various sporting events.
