Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Development (ICCD) has identified the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA) as a strategic partner in driving its activities in Nigeria and expanding its scope to the broader African continent.
ICCD Secretary-General, Mr. Yousef Hasan Khalawi, made this known during a courtesy visit to NACCIMA head office in Abuja on Friday.
He was received by NACCIMA National President, Engr. Jani Ibrahim, mni, OON, and members of his management team.
Khalawi revealed that the ICCD is looking to establish more of its activities in Nigeria to attract halal investment opportunities and boost the halal ecosystem.
He also urged Nigeria to participate more actively in ICCD’s global initiatives such as the London Halal Forum, Makkah Halal Forum, and so many others.
The global halal economy is valued at $7 trillion as of today, encompassing lifestyle sectors, goods and financial services.
Khalawi, an international advisor in business management and development with extensive expertise in the Islamic economy, was in Nigeria to launch ICCD’s first Halal reception in Lagos.
He described the event as a strong start of many more initiatives to come in Nigeria, while expressing delight that it was attended by leaders in both private and public sectors.
ICCD is an international non-governmental organisation operating across 57 countries of the world. It serves as a gateway to Muslim business communities in 4 continents.
Khalawi also explained that the ICCD is targeting several African initiatives, and Nigeria will be its link to the larger continent.
He stated that Nigeria has a huge potential to become a major hub for all the initiatives of ICCD in Africa.
Khalawi said apart from promoting halal investment opportunities and businesses, the ICCD organises programmes dedicated to women empowerment, technology transfer, and knowledge exchange.
ICCD’s recognition of NACCIMA as a strategic partner further underscores the association’s growing influence in trade and economic development, both within Nigeria and beyond.
