Kwara State Government says its huge investment, strategic planning, commitments to Rural Urban Development and food security through modest partnerships with developed agencies is a legacy that will stand the test of time and bear useful fruit.
The State Project Coordinator Kwara RAAMP, Doctor Isaac Kolo stated this while speaking on the huge investment of the state government on the project where he stated that between 2019 and 2025, the government of Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq has paid the sum of Six Billion, One Hundred and Fifty Million, Two Hundred, and Thirty Five Thousand Naira as counterpart fund to keep the project alive.
According to the Project Coordinator, most of the roads construction by Kwara RAAMP across the three senatorial districts have already been completed while a few are almost completed.
Doctor Kolo who is an Engineer also noted that RAAMP, in Kwara, has awarded contract for the construction of three Agro-logistics Centres, to be upgraded to international standards.
He said one will be in each of the Senatorial Districts starting with Ajase-Ipo market in Kwara South, Alapa market in Kwara Central and Kaiama market in Kwara North, for which work had reached an appreciable stage at the three markets.
According to Doctor Kolo, Kwara RAAMP has also embarked on different sensitization programmes such as Community Entry, Citizens. Engagements, Town Hall meetings and others, to engage the rural dwellers who are the direct beneficiaries of the project, on the need to take ownership of the roads and markets, as well as support the contractors.
For these roads to stand the test of time through quality maintenance, the Governor he disclosed had also signed the Rural Access Road Agency (RARA) and State Road Fund (SRF) bills into law and approved the immediate constitution of the Boards of the Agency.
Doctor Kolo stated that the construction, rehabilitation, and upgrade of rural roads connecting the three Senatorial Districts in the State had been flagged off by the present administration on the twenty first of October, 2024.
He praised Governor Abdulrazaq for his commitment to the project mentioning that Kwara have never derailed from the laydown rules guiding the project for smooth implementation which comes with clear transparency, compliance, and due diligence before any civil works or contracts are signed.
