The Obbo-Ile Progressive Association has appealed to the federal government to construct the Osi-Obbo-Ile-Eruku-Egbe road to improve productivity in the affected communities in Kwara and Kogi States.

The President of the Association, Comrade John A. Fashikun, made the appeal while highlighting the importance of the road to residents and economic activities in the areas.

According to him, the poor condition of the road has continued to affect economic activities, movement and transportation within the communities.

He stressed that the construction of the road would improve connectivity and support the socio-economic development of the areas.

Comrade Fashikun called on the Federal Government to as a matter of urgency direct the appropriate department to start work without any further delay on the road.

The President explained that the road is presently in a bad situation, calling for prompt action before it gets worse.

He added that the Federal Government had approved the take-off of work on the road urging it to direct the appropriate department to start work without any further delay.

Comrade Fashikun stressed that Motorists and other users are trapped on the road just as the township roads have now been deteriorated from bad to worse.

He said good road network is part of the infrastructure that would engender development urging Government to acts urgently so as not to let the people lose trust in the government.

Comrade Fashikum, who praised the present administration on multiple projects facilitated, maintained that the road would ease not only transportation but also improve security along these Community routes.

The President emphasised that the Association, the Royal Fathers of the affected Communities, Forum and individuals had been drawing the attention of the Federal and the Kwara State Governments to the deplorable conditions of these township roads and that series of letters have been written for urgent attention on the township roads more than five years with no concrete steps so far.

In an emotional mood, he expressed that the road is vital to life and wellbeing of the communities and urged the government and relevant authorities to give the road urgent attention it deserves.
