Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Ilorin Zonal Office has denied any connection to a protest by students of Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin.
In a statement, EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale explained that operatives from the Ilorin Zonal Directorate carried out the operation on March 24, 2026, arresting 30 suspects, including six polytechnic students, at Agbede Community.
The Anti graft agency said its recent operation in Ilorin was a legitimate sting targeting suspected internet fraudsters.
The EFCC recovered eight vehicles, mobile phones, and laptops suspected to be linked to the fraud activities.
Oyewale emphasized that the operation didn’t involve entering the polytechnic premises or disrupting school activities.
The Commission dismissed claims linking the protest to its operation as “contrived and outright misrepresentation.
The EFCC assured the public of its professionalism and encouraged reporting of any unethical staff conduct.
