Ilorin Emirate Staff Association, KWASU (IESA-KWASU) is celebrating Professor Moshood Mahmood Jimba on his re-appointment as Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration of Kwara State University.
In a statement issued on behalf of the Association, the Chairman, Professor Ibrahim Laro Abubakar, signed by General Secretary, Dr Abdullahi Bakare congratulated Prof. Jimba for a successful first tenure and expressed confidence in his capacity as he begins a second term.
The statement marked the occasion as both a completion and a commencement of new leadership.
The Governing Council of KWASU confirmed the re-appointment following the conclusion of Prof. Jimba’s two-year tenure.
His confirmation extends a career of continuous leadership at the university since he joined in 2012.
According to the Association, Prof. Jimba has served in several key roles without any break in service including Head of Department, Director of the Centre for Ilorin Manuscripts, Dean of Student Affairs, and Dean of the School of Postgraduate Studies, before his appointment as DVC Administration in 2024.
IESA-KWASU noted that the seamless progression from one role to another reflects both exceptional capability and the institutional trust reposed in him by the University.
Beyond the university, Prof. Jimba currently holds two major state appointments as he was named by Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq in 2023 as Chairman of the Kwara State Arabic Education Board and Head of the Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board.
The Association said this positions him at the intersection of academia and public service.
The Association also highlighted Prof. Jimba’s strong ties to the intellectual and spiritual legacy of Sheikh Muhammad Kamaldeen Al-Adabiyy, Ansarul Islam Society of Nigeria recently described him as a worthy Ambassador of the late scholar.
The Association noted that Prof. Jimba is listed by Wikipedia among the notable students of Sheikh Kamalud-Deen, alongside eminent figures such as former Chief Justice of Nigeria, Fatia Williams, the second Mufti of Ilorin, Sheikh Khidir Apaokagi, and the Grand Khadi of Kwara State, Justice Abdullateef Kamaludeen.
The statement further acknowledged Prof. Jimba’s personal commitment to colleagues and community.
IESA-KWASU said he has made financial and material sacrifices toward the association’s progress and is known for relating with staff as equals rather than from an ivory tower.
It said Prof. Jimba’s career reflects the historic legacy of service by the Ologun Jimba family to the Ilorin Emirate. As the pioneer professor in the dynasty, he was hailed as an elder, mentor and pillar.
The Association wished him success in his second term and prayed for more accomplishments.
