Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and the party’s governorship candidate in. the ongoing Anambra election, George Moghalu, cast their votes but expressed concern over widespread vote buying across the state.
Mr Moghalu voted at Polling Unit 017, Uruagu Ward 1, Nnewi North LGA, and said voters were being offered between N10,000 and N15,000 in several communities.
He described the situation as an attempt to exploit poverty and undermine the credibility of the election.
Mr Obi, who voted at Umudimakasi, Agulu Ward 2, also noted reports of electoral malpractice and called for greater vigilance.
Both urged INEC and security agencies to ensure a transparent, fair and credible process.
