In an era marked by moral disarray, the esteemed title of “Alfa” once synonymous with Islamic scholarship and ethical guidance has suffered a profound degradation.
No longer the pillar of respect and integrity it once was, many self-proclaimed Alfas now tarnish this legacy, often promoting a culture of corruption and materialism.
My own memories of pride and happiness accompanying my father, an esteemed Islamic teacher and preacher, reflect a time when Alfas were held in high esteem, respected by all and sundry; including the law enforcement agents on highway.
In stark contrast, today’s society is plagued by the self-proclaimed Alfas who have compromised their integrity, misleading the society and turning a revered position of an Alfa into a source of trepidation.
An Alfa serves as a spiritual mentor, deeply rooted in the teachings of the Qur’ān and the prophetic wisdom of Muhammad (ﷺ) who encapsulated his mission by stating, “I am sent as a teacher,” further elaborating that he was “sent for the completion of noble character.”
Consequently, the primary responsibilities of a genuine and virtuous Alfa include imparting authentic Islamic knowledge, nurturing piety, and embodying righteousness in everyday actions.
Yet, the rise of Alfas embracing material gains over ethical conduct reduces their once-sacred role to a mere charade, filled with pretense and moral bankruptcy.
The Qur’an serves as a beacon in our moral landscape. Surah Al-Hashr, Verse 18, impels believers to assess their actions and potential repercussions.
Yet, we witness a disturbing trend where some self-styled Alfas engage in deceit, ritualism, killing, and other criminal behaviours, eroding the communal trust that faith and ethics once fostered.
This alarming trend is reflected in the utterances and actions of those who are perceived as pious clerics, as they prioritize societal status and wealth accumulation at the expense of genuine Islamic values.
Young individuals, despite being rooted in Islamic teachings and upright backgrounds, succumb to the dangerous allure of quick wealth abandoning patience and hard work for illicit shortcuts.
The quest for ostentation often blinds them to the valuable, spiritual heritage they must uphold.
In light of this, any form of deceptive guidance or manipulation aimed at misleading vulnerable individuals must be firmly rejected and actively opposed.
The actions of the self-styled Alfas who engage in unethical conduct have led to a troubling generalization, wherein all Alfas are viewed with suspicion; especially by the law enforcement agencies tadopting a stringent approach towards Alfas, further complicating their role in society.
Parents are the primary architects of their children’s moral framework. They must exemplify robust Islamic values and guide their offspring with wisdom.
Surah At-Tahrim, verse 6 underscores the imperative of safeguarding family members from moral pitfalls and Allah’s torment in the hereafter; thus promoting a solid foundation of ethics.
This responsibility extends beyond household teachings; parents should also ensure their children engage with reputable Islamic scholars and institutions that embody the authentic spirit of Islam, steering clear of harmful influences. A child’s upbringing must be guided by morally upright guardians.
Parents should also cultivate open communication with their children, fostering a relationship built on trust and understanding, thereby becoming their primary source of guidance.
Avoiding the temptation to exploit children for material gain is paramount; instead, parents must question and challenge any suspicious sources of wealth.
Responsible parenting is a profound duty that carries significant spiritual consequences, shaping not only the child’s destiny but also the parent’s standing before Allah.
Simultaneously, contemporary Alfas must embrace a life of piety and responsibility, dedicating themselves to authentic Islamic education, ethical behavior, and legitimate work.
The allure of materialism threatens the core of spiritual engagement, as misguided clerics promote indulgence and superficiality.
Consequently, societal actors parents, leaders, and government institution, especially the law enforcement agency must collaborate to hold individuals accountable, dismantling the façade of self-styled Alfas propagating falsehoods and criminality.
To cultivate enduring ethical governance, robust legal frameworks are essential to combat societal ills, complemented by swift and transparent judicial processes that enforce accountability.
This retributive justice system will not only serve justice, but also foster a culture of ethical integrity, deterring future transgressions and reinforcing public trust.
Importantly, society’s role cannot be overstated in creating an environment that encourages piety, honesty, and diligence.
The collective responsibility to repudiate immoral influences is paramount. Only a united front of parents, religious leaders, and civic responsibility can nurture a generation resolute against corruption and moral decline.
Therefore, it is incumbent upon parents, religious authorities, and the broader community to consistently guide and exhort the youth, instilling in them a profound commitment to piety, ethical conduct and adherence to the divine law.
In summary, the fight against moral decay is a communal venture, demanding our collective vigilance and active resistance. We must not shield the transgressors of our faith with silence or complacency.
To reclaim our moral integrity and establish dignity within our religious discourse, we must act decisively, ensuring that the lights of righteousness shine brightly in our communities. Let us forge a future where truth prevails and the essence of our faith remains untainted.
O Allah, guide us on the path of righteousness, and restore integrity and honor to our communities. Grant us the strength to stand against corruption and to raise our voices against injustice. May our actions reflect Your teachings, illuminating the world with piety and compassion. Ameen.
