The infrastructure conference seeks to mobilise private sector capital and international investments to address Nigeria’s infrastructure deficits, with the overriding objective of boosting commerce, industrialization and exports.

The Chinese investors who came all the way from Guangzhou operate across various fields including pharmaceuticals, automobiles, mining, construction materials, agribusiness, and a wide range of others.

Their visit is a follow-up to commitments secured during the momentous NACCIMA-CCOIC Business and Investment Forum held in Guangzhou, on the sidelines of the 139th Canton Fair in April.

The delegation of Chinese investors include Li Ququan, General Manager, Jing Cheng Cement Products; Li Zhe Ling, Vice General Manager, Jing Cheng Cement Products; He Bin of the Chenzhou-Africa Economic and Trade Association; He Wei, General Manager, Chen Zhou Wan He Supply Chain Management Co., Ltd.; Ma Bingzhong, Vice General Manager, Chen Zhou Wan He Supply Chain Management Co., Ltd.

Speaking during an interview with the press, Ladin Chen expressed great delight at the infrastructure conference put together by NACCIMA, calling it a strategic platform to make meaningful business partnerships.

She said Nigeria remains a vibrant market in the whole of Africa, signalling her readiness to explore investment opportunities in the country.

In his opening address, President of NACCIMA, Engr. Jani Ibrahim, emphasised that Nigeria cannot become globally competitive without world-class infrastructure.

Engr. Jani noted that government alone cannot finance the infrastructure needs of Nigeria. “We must unlock long-term domestic and international private capital, attract pension funds, insurance funds, sovereign wealth funds, infrastructure funds, private equity, multilateral finance and institutional investors,” he stated.

In her goodwill message, Amb. Mairo Abbas described the collaboration between the Consulate General of Nigeria in Guangzhou and NACCIMA as a complementary effort to actualise the vision of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a highly industrialised Nigeria.

She thanked the Hon. Minister of Foreign Affairs, Amb. Bianca Ojukwu, for graciously approving the Consulate to lead the Chinese investors down to Nigeria.

She said her office will continue to constructively engage the Chinese private sector through their recognised associations for investments and partnerships that result in growth, development and economic progress for Nigeria.

Other highlights of the infrastructure conference are panel sessions, networking sessions, and product exhibitions.

The bold move by Amb. Mairo Musa Abbas represents a key strategy in strengthening the existing cooperation and friendship between Nigeria and China.
