National President of the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA), Engr. Jani Ibrahim, mni, OON, has said that the zero-tariff policy, special customs operations, tax cuts, and other favourable economic policies available in the Hainan free trade port are major incentives for commerce, investments, and economic cooperation.

Engr. Ibrahim stated this on the sidelines of the 2026 Hainan Free Trade Port International Investment Cooperation Promotion Conference hosted by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) Hainan Provincial Committee, in collaboration with other organisations to attract partnerships from different countries of the world.

The NACCIMA National President urged the Nigerian private sector to tap into the opportunities presented by the free trade port to scale up exports, especially for non-oil products, to China and the wider Asian markets.

Engr. Ibrahim, who is also the President of the Federation of West African Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FEWACCI), led a key delegation of Nigerian businessmen, including NACCIMA members, to the engagement which held on Thursday, November 5, 2026 in Haikou.

The high-level event was attended by important dignitaries from government and the business community both in China and other countries of the world. They include Vice Governor of Hainan Province, Zhao Feng; Chairperson of CCPIT Hainan, Ning Hongwen; Ambassador of Morocco to China, H.E. Abdelkader El Ansari; Consul General of Nigeria in Guanghzou, Amb. Mairo Musa Abbas; Chief of Staff to the President of Liguria Region, Massimiliano Nannini; among others.

Engr. Ibrahim said NACCIMA will develop strong cooperation with the authorities and private sector in Hainan to penetrate mainland China and other countries on the Asian continent, focusing mainly on non-oil exports, processing, and value addition. He also called for the establishment of a Nigerian warehouse in the Hainan free trade port, and a Chinese warehouse in Nigeria for win-win investment results.

Vice Governor of Hainan Province noted that the Hainan free trade port was strategically planned by President Xi Jinping to facilitate investments, trade and development. He added that the government will continue to support with policies and other incentives that make cooperation with Hainan attractive.

Consul General of Nigeria in Guangzhou encouraged private sector players in Hainan to take special interest in Nigeria for investment, technology transfer, and establishment of factories.

She noted that just like Hainan is a gateway to mainland China and the rest of Asia, Nigeria also stands at a vantage position serving as gateway to West Africa and most African countries. She said the country is currently implementing economic reforms that will boost investments under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Later in the day, the NACCIMA delegates visited some major factories in Haikou, creating an opportunity for learning and industrial exposure. One of the places visited was Hubei United Investment Group Co., Ltd., a conglomerate that focuses on industrial park development and operations, smart urban construction, infrastructure investment, and resource development. Other places visited include an expansive factory where coconut juice and by-products are made, with the delegates touring all its production lines, as well as the Hainan Huayan Collagen Technology Co. Ltd, a national high-tech enterprise specialising in the research, development, production, and global sale of bioactive peptides and hydrolyzed collagen.

NACCIMA’s participation in the 2026 Hainan Free Trade Port International Investment Cooperation Promotion Conference underscores its continuously rising influence within the international trade and investment promotion ecosystem.
