Kwara Football Team participating in the ongoing Gateway Games 2024 National Sports Festival has expressed heartfelt gratitude to Engineer Nurudeen Adeyemi, the founder of ENACT and a board member of TETFUND, for fulfilling his promise of donating one million naira to the team — despite their 4-1 loss to hosts Ogun State in the final today, 28th of May 2025.
Engineer Nurudeen had earlier pledged to reward the team with ₦1 million if they defeated the Ogun team in the final.
However, in a rare gesture of sportsmanship and commitment to youth development, he went ahead to fulfill the promise regardless of the match outcome.
Speaking on his decision, Engineer Nurudeen said, he chose to honour his word the boys played with heart and quality as were the better team, and more importantly, his commitment is to their growth and encouragement, not just the results.
The coaching crew, led by Head Coach Ezekiel Ajewole, along with Coaches Funsho Alamoyo and Abdulkadir Jimoh, praised the philanthropist’s unwavering support for grassroots football and youth empowerment.
The players, through their captain, Dennis Sunday, also expressed deep appreciation. on behalf of all his teammates.
Engineer Nurudeen’s gesture has further cemented his reputation as a passionate supporter of sports and youth development in Kwara State.
His contribution is not only financial but symbolic sending a powerful message that effort, discipline, and commitment to excellence deserve to be rewarded, regardless of the final result.
