The information reaching this medium says Law officers Association of Nigeria (LOAN), Kwara State Branch has suspended a 3-day warning strike in the state for two weeks due to Governor AbdulRahman Abdulrazaq’s intervention.
This is contained in a statement by the Chairman of the Association, Mrs Medinat Adebisi and Secretary, Ms. Tolulope Oniyide in Ilorin.
The statement pointed out that this suspension of the strike followed engagement between the state government and the striking law officers as their demands have just been brought to Governor’s attention.
The demands of the Law Officers include payment of the outstanding 50% of the 2020 furniture allowance, payment of the 2024 furniture allowance (which was under-budgeted), payment of 2024 and 2025 wardrobe allowances.
Other demands are implementation of the harmonization of State Counsel with their Magistrate counterparts, particularly bridging the disparity in salaries, elongation of the retirement age to 65 years, access to car loan facilities, upgrading of wardrobe allowance.
The law officers also want the state government to provide Christmas and Ileya packages, improved working environment and conditions vis-a-vis adjustment of the entry point into service to Level 10 (as applicable in most states), provision of befitting and adequate office accommodation.
